The parcel service provider UPS announced a necessary technology change regarding the API interface a while ago. In a recent statement, UPS announced that "all older UPS API integrations that use XML, SOAP or older JSON payloads must also be converted to the RESTful APIs." This also affects the previous integration that runs on the SOAP API.

The mandatory requirements require a complete redevelopment of the integration, which was decided against after careful review and evaluation. Due to the shutdown of the SOAP API by UPS, the existing implementation has therefore reached its EOL. As a result, the settings under Setup » Orders » Shipping » Service provider » UPS and registrations via the Shipping Center are expected to no longer be functional. 

Alternative integration via plugin by Heista

Due to persistent demand, our partner agency Heista GmbH has developed an integration to further allow punctual and reliable shipping from plentysystems via UPS. We are very pleased to be able to offer an alternative solution from our ecosystem.  

The plugin is now available as a beta version on the Marketplace. In case of support inquiries for the setup of the plugin, please contact our partner agency at ups@heista.de.

Current and future functionality

The following functionalities are already covered by the plugin at launch:

• Registration of shipping labels via the shipping center and process

• Cancellation of registered shipping labels via the shipping center and process

• Registration of return labels

• Paperless customs declaration → currently still with restrictions

In addition to this range of functionality, the provider is actively working on the following enhancements

• Optimization of label output for UPS Paperless Invoice

• Extension of the transfer values to UPS Paperless Invoice

• Expansion of shipping service assignments → Currently, a UPS shipping service can only be assigned at shipping profile level. In future, this will be possible at shipping region level.

In addition, the plugin will be expanded to include these functions in the future:

• Generation of shipping and return labels via event action.

• Implementation of additional UPS services (delivery confirmation, cash on delivery, etc.)

• Status tracking of registered shipments
