With the increasing scrutiny of customs declarations, we want to support you in providing accurate and complete information. For certain destination countries, customs numbers are mandatory to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance.
It’s important to note that requirements regarding how and in which detail this information should be submitted differs by shipping provider. For example, a VOEC number may need to be transmitted in a specific way, or the shipping provider can process VOEC, EORI, SwissID in one field.
As a first step, we’ve introduced new configuration options that allow you to define customs values based on specific criteria—such as client, order referrer, and delivery country. You can either enter values manually or have them determined automatically.
The following options are available for getting the value:
EORI_NUMBER: Uses the EORI number stored in the master data of your PlentyONE system.
VAT_DETERMINATON: Applies the VAT number calculated from the accounting settings, based on the selected client and location.
Custom: Uses the manually defined value entered in the configuration.
You can also define the type and usage of the customs data, especially when specific fields are required by certain shipping providers or need to be formatted differently.
Important: Definition of default value
Please ensure that a default is configured for each client. This value will be used if no specific setting is found, and it prevents incomplete shipping declarations. Setting a default value is mandatory.
The next step will be integrating these settings to be used with specific shipping providers. We are prioritizing the implementation for the PlentyONE integrations and will roll this out as soon as possible.
