Amazon: Update on Transition to Listings API - Timeline Adjusted!
Good news on the transition to the Amazon Listings API: Amazon has officially postponed the shutdown of the previously used interface to 30 June 2025!
As a result, we have adjusted our strategy accordingly. In recent weeks, we have focused on transitioning price and stock updates, as well as finalising the adapter solution. These elements are now in their final stages and nearing completion. At the same time, we continue our work on the new catalogue, including Channel Maps for Amazon, which we now plan to release in Q2 2025.
Although the transition timeline has changed, our commitment remains the same: we will support you throughout this migration, ensuring that no one is left without guidance.
Project breakdown into five work packages
We have structured the transition into several key subprojects:
Migration of price updates to the modern Listings API interface
Migration of inventory updates to the modern Listings API interface
Activation of the adapter for all existing customers to reduce reliance on the feed solution. This will also allow missing attributes in flat files to be added via alternative methods. Additionally, the adapter facilitates early system preparation for the catalogue
Introduction of the catalogue for Amazon, including Channel Maps
Support for existing customers transitioning from the feed solution to the catalogue
Focus on price and inventory updates
Our primary focus remains on ensuring the smooth operation of price and inventory updates. Most of these changes take place behind the scenes, meaning the transition should have no impact on your daily operations.
Additionally, we have expanded our monitoring capabilities to improve system reliability:
Enhanced monitoring and alerting on our side
Introduction of product metrics to better analyse usage patterns and improve your overall experience
Status of price and inventory Updates
Price updates have been successfully transmitted via the interface for several weeks.
Inventory updates are still in progress. We are facing challenges due to Amazon’s predefined API rate limits, which affect all software providers using Amazon’s interface. To stay within these limits while maintaining operational efficiency, we are optimising the number of inventory updates—ensuring this does not negatively affect business processes, e.g. overselling.
Transparency on price and inventory Updates
We recognise that tracking transmitted price and inventory updates, as well as Amazon’s responses, currently poses a challenge. We are working to improve transparency in this area and will incorporate your feedback into further optimisations.
Your input is always welcome! Feel free to book a session with the responsible Product Manager to share your feedback.
Short status update on other subprojects
Adapter: Testing is expected to begin next week, with the first sellers gaining access to the adapter solution
Catalogue: In April, our primary focus will be on finalising the catalogue for sellers who want to start with Amazon as soon as possible
There will be no automatic technical migration initially—this feature will be introduced at a later stage
Sellers wishing to switch manually will have the option to do so
We will work closely with our users, incorporating feedback into the development process
The first sellers are expected to start using the catalogue in early May
Stay tuned for our next update!
