We would like to inform you that in order to focus our efforts on improving the product, we have made the decision to discontinue maintenance for the DHL plugin and announce an End-of-life.

Reason & Timeline for the Deprecation

The DHL Shipping Plugin is using the DHL SOAP API that is gradually being removed by DHL and announced deprecated in 2022 while ending the functionality of the SOAP API Version 1 in May 2024 and SOAP API Version 2 in May 2025.

1st February 2025 : EOM DHL Shipping Plugin
4th June 2025: EOL DHL Shipping Plugin

• 4th June 2025: settings migration in Beta systems

• 11th June 2025: settings migration in Early systems

• 18th June 2025: settings migration in Stable systems

UPDATE: we will be performing the migration from SOAP to REST or from plugin to core integration in stages by PIDs and not following the usual sequence of beta, early and stable. We are planning four waves:

• 1st wave: 4 June : PIDs greater than 40,000

• 2nd wave: 18 June - PIDs greater than 20,000 to 40,000

• 3rd wave: 2 July - PIDs greater than 10,000 to 20,000

• 4th wave: 16 July - PIDs greater than 0 to 10,000

Outlook & Recommendation

The DHL Shipping Plugin is using the DHL SOAP API that is gradually being removed by DHL and announced deprecated in 2022 while ending the functionality of the SOAP API Version 1 in May 2024. The focus for DHL on services, features and support will be on the REST API, which we have the core integration implemented.

Having the integration marked as "Test phase" but being fully operational, you still are able to swith between using the Plugin or the core implementation since November 2023. To improve our capability to maintain the integration and relying on the higher reliability of the DHL REST API we decided to announce an EOM and EOL for the DHL Plugin.

We recommend you to switch to the REST API before the EOL date like around 350 sellers have already done to ensure a smooth transition by using Setup » Orders » Shipping » Shipping service provider » DHL Shipping » Shipping settings migration -> Button: SWITCH TO REST API

On the EOL date we will have to migrate the existing plugin settings to the core on systems not already switched and will disable the manual switch option. In accordance with DHL we will ensure DHL shipping registrations in Plenty are only using the REST API.

The workflow is not changed and you do not need to adjust shipping provider or shipping profiles. If you want to revisit the settings or use some new options, find the DHL Shipping menu under Setup » Orders » Shipping » Shipping service provider » DHL Shipping

Please note that when using the DHL plugin after 31 May 2025, it will not be possible to register small parcel / "Warenpost" shipments with the plugin, as the workaround will be switched off by DHL.

We have made the change in the REST version and are not dependent on the workaround, small parcel shipments can still be registered with the REST API.
