Maintaining product data is an important task, and should therefore be as efficient and straightforward as possible. For some time now, there are two menu entries for Item with the newer one tagged "Test phase". Now, we strive to make the new Item UI the default interface. Therefore, we continue integrating features from the old Item UI and adding entirely new features to the new Item UI. Being able to focus solely on the new Item UI will allow us to standardize the usage of plentysystems, which in turn accelerate development of other related and dependent projects.

Upgrading the new Item UI

The main advantages of the new Item UI, such as the ability to create custom views, are currently not being employed, as essential components from the old UI are still missing or are not fully available in the new UI. Therefore, this project encompasses:

• Providing Item Characteristics in the new UI

• Adding the free-text fields to the new UI

• Improved search and filters, analogous to the new Order UI

While the new Item UI doesn't yet have all the features migrated from the old UI, we would like to remind you that only the new Item UI is being further developed and upgraded. If you are not yet using the new Item UI, stay tuned for regular updates on its upgrades to surpass the old Item UI.

Outlook

The new Item UI is being developed and aligned with other new UIs, primarily the new Order UI, giving users a much more uniform experience using plenty. Furthermore, the information density will increase by making information more intuitive and allowing more information to be captured at a glance. The ultimate goal is to switch to the new UI and deactivate the old Item UI.
