Stock Reservation for Webshop Order
Shops face a significant challenge: multiple customers can place the same product in their baskets simultaneously, regardless of the available stock. Even though our shop system has fail safes in place that prevent orders of items with unavailable stock, it is still possible for customers to get errors during the checkout process if stock availability has changed between putting an item in the basket and finishing up the order process.
This issue often leads to complications during the payment process, causes frustration and necessitates reimbursement, which is both time-consuming and disappointing for customers.
Avoiding invalid purchases and reimbursements
We will implement a stock reservation system that ensures product availability during the payment process. By reserving stock as soon as a customer initiates payment, we can prevent scenarios where customers pay for items that are out of stock. This enhancement aims to streamline the user experience, while merchants will experience fewer instances of needing to process refunds and manage customer dissatisfaction.
We are happy to inform you that we will bring this change to the new shop as well as plentyShop LTS.
Better buyer experience in order process
When users click the "pay now" button during checkout, the system will reserve the stock immediately, ensuring that they can only pay for items that are actually available. This change will reduce the likelihood of encountering error messages and subsequent payment issues, resulting in a more seamless and satisfying purchasing process.
